Critical Care
猎奇重口Critical Care provides emergency treatment for patients who have experienced major trauma, surgery, or sudden, severe illness. As the state’s only academic medical center and Level 1 trauma Center, our intensive care unit (ICU) staff and facilities are second-to-none.
UNM’s Lifeguard Air Emergency Services extends our critical care to southern Colorado, eastern Arizona, southeastern Utah and western Texas.

猎奇重口Hospital has three specialized ICUs on the 2nd floor to care for those recovering from illness or injuries. Our state-of-the-art Burn Center also has a six-bed unit to provide critical care for patients. As the state’s only Level I Trauma Center, we provide expert care for all types of emergencies, including neurological emergencies such as stroke.
Intensive Care Units at 猎奇重口Children’s Hospital
猎奇重口Children’s Hospital in the Barbara & Bill Richardson Pavilion and is home to critical care units for newborns through teens up to age 17.
Pediatric ICU
The Pediatric ICU is the only one of its kind in New Mexico providing 24/7 Level 1 trauma care for children. We see the state's youngest patients for complex emergency care, including heart surgery, brain injury and diabetes-related problems.
The 20-bed unit on the 5th floor is the state's only pediatric facility with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatments, which allow time for a young patient’s heart or lungs to heal.
Social workers and child life specialists are available to provide resources and support to parents.

Neonatal ICU (NICU)
The 24-bed Neonatal ICU (NICU) on the 4th floor cares for critically ill and premature infants. The unit offers advanced, specialized technology such as bedside imaging tests, cardiac catherization and ventilator support.
