School-Based Health Center Program

For many students, healthcare may be inaccessible or difficult to get. As part of our mission at Health and 猎奇重口Children’s Hospital, we aim to deliver high-quality care to all New Mexicans—closing the health equity gap.

Our School-Based Health Center program brings health care and education to select schools in the Albuquerque Public School District. Our team of doctors, nurses, physician assistants, social workers and dental hygienists provide are to all students—regardless of their ability to pay. 

Care services include primary care, mental health, referrals and prevention services. The centers are located within the school grounds and are open during school hours.

SBHC Services

The goal of the SBHC program is to keep students healthy and in-class. Routine physicals can help catch long-term conditions like asthma or diabetes early and prevent larger problems later.

Typical SBHC services include:

  • Asthma management
  • Diabetes management
  • Immunizations
  • Reproductive and sexual health services
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • Therapy, including help with bullying, grief and peer pressure

FRONTERAS and Envision

FRONTERAS is a rural, outpatient, school-based health center (SBHC) telehealth initiative focused on increasing access to and improved management of pediatric chronic disease.

was founded in 2004 to improve the quality of child and adolescent health. The Envision team works within the community to educate, evaluate and train healthcare professionals.
